AACSB was founded in 1916 to accredit business schools of US universities. AACSB accreditation is viewed as a quality benchmark for a business school in the global scientific community. For many years the Association only accredited North American business schools. In 1991, it adopted new, more flexible standards.
Today, AACSB is a global network of over 1400 educational institutions. It currently has only 6 Russian business schools, but none of these schools have AACSB accreditation yet. The accreditation process is extremely complicated and takes 6 years on average.
